Year 2 - Term 5 - Celebration of Learning

Term 5 was a wonderful term! We celebrated Sir David Attenborough 100th birthday, We began day with a special assembly, where everyone joined singing (a very loud!) rendition of "Happy Birthday." We then tuned into a live webinar featuring the amazing Steve Backshall, who shared inspiring stories about Sir David and the importance of protecting our planet. After that we created beautiful, handmade birthday cards filled with special messages and hope for the future. In Science we have been exploring our school grounds to find out what kind of food is available for the wild animals as well as the types of shelter they use, we also thought about how the animals get the water they need to survive. We have been thinking about the things animals including humans need to survive and discussing the differences between needs and wants. We also had a visit from the Kent Community Health Team to celebrate Year 2 winning their sugar experiment competition! We learnt all about how to keep our teach healthy including brushing twice a day, drinking water at school and making sure that we spit, don't rinse. Every child in Year 2 was given a toothbrush to celebrate, well done Year 2!
