Sensory Circuits

What are Sensory Circuits?

A sensory circuit is a short plan of physical activities that enables children to achieve an optimal level of alertness needed to access the classroom and the learning. A circuit can last between 5 - 15 minutes and involve working through three distinct stages; alerting, organising and calming. In school, our aim is to deliver a sensory circuit which enables the child to regulate well enough to engage in class activities.

You can try sensory circuits with your child at home if you feel they are too alert or too subdued to engage in an activity with you. Each link below suggests activities for each element of a circuit.
